STACEY’S PERSPECTIVE

What I Believe

I believe that people are fundamentally well intentioned – from their own perspectives. I also believe this is why our “collective humanness” is so complex. We are all informed by our own individual narratives.  A person’s perspective becomes their truth. Their truth becomes their narrative. It’s when our narratives no longer serve us well, that we begin to change the story we tell ourselves.

I strongly believe everyone should contribute to the greater good in a way that works for them – from their own perspectives. But I also believe everyone should develop an understanding of others whose perspectives may be vastly different from their own. Because if all I ever do is walk to the beat of my own drum, how will I ever know what the other drums sound like…? And while I may be standing in the middle of my own truth (from my perspective), surely I can honor someone else’s truth as well. Actually, I have to; our collective humanness depends on it.

Ultimately, my work is all about perspective. If we can harness all the good that comes from understanding a wide variety of perspectives, we can make our collective humanness flourish. Often it’s as easy as changing our own narrative. But changing our own narrative is sometimes extremely difficult.

But I do believe, given enough perspective, anything is possible. And perspective matters more than we will ever know.
